The NBA is in full swing! Loving the fact that MY Miami Heat are defending their title. I am also LOVING the story behind the Brooklyn Nets. Secretly I am rooting for them BUT not against my HEAT. I have been watching the Nets from afar with everything the franchise is doing from Avery Johnson, D-Will, Jay-Z, and the communities reaction to the Brooklyn Nets ( What say you NEW YORK? Is there room for another SQUAD? Who You Got Knicks/Nets?). I will let others talk sports, but I like to discuss marketing, promotion, and the business of sports; that is where the real money is, especially ownership. One of the things that the Nets are doing is building a BRAND globally and not waiting for the CHIP before going worldwide. They are letting us in on the whole story, letting us grow with them on this wonderful journey of taking something out of nothing (sorry New Jersey Nets–the old school crew) and turning it into a HOT commodity. Digging the fact that Jay-Z”s brand of marketing,promotion, and hip-hop, is ALL OVER the NETS— straight to the board room and the NBA. Done with class and style, plus a few hurdles along the way, but at the end of the day showing how business, the community, and HIP-HOP can co-exist. The Brooklyn Nets want you to become FANS of NOT only the sport but the business of the Brooklyn Nets/Barclay Center. Other sports franchises need to take note, especially Jerry Jones and my Dallas Cowboys!
